Arne Slot reveals Trent Alexander-Arnold’s Carabao Cup chances after double Liverpool blow | Football

Liverpool have been dealt a major injury blow ahead of their Carabao Cup final against Newcastle United after Trent Alexander Arnold was forced off against Paris Saint-Germain.
Arne Slot’s side crashed out of the Champions League on Tuesday night after a penalty shootout defeat to the French champions who march onto the quarter-finals where they will take on Aston Villa or Club Brugge.
Alexander-Arnold was forced off after 73 minutes on Merseyside, appearing to jar his knee as he slid in to challenge Vitinha.
The England international received treatment on the pitch before making way for Jarell Quansah.
Liverpool suffered another blow in extra-time with Ibrahima Konate unable to continue, making way for Endo Wataru.

With the Carabao Cup final just five days away, Slot confirmed his right-back is now likely to miss out at Wembley for the second season in a row.
Slot said in his post-match press conference: ‘He had to come off, that’s never a good sign.

‘And from what I heard from people that saw the images of how he got injured, that didn’t do very good. So I would be surprised if he is [available] for Sunday.’
Slot offered a slightly brighter outlook on Konate’s availability, believing his centre-half was struggling with fatigue rather than an injury late on.
‘I have to ask but for me Ibou was more that he was tired than it was an injury,’ Slot said.

Alexander-Arnold also missed last season’s Carabao Cup final, among the many absentees that afternoon as the Reds saw off Chelsea at Wembley.
In a further blow to their plans, Liverpool will also be without Alexander-Arnold’s deputy Conor Bradley, who is still recovering from injury.
Newcastle also have a list of absentees to contend with on Sunday.
Anthony Gordon will miss out as a result of the red card he picked up in the FA Cup defeat to Brighton while Lewis Hall has been ruled out for the rest of the season.
Sven Botman is also ruled out with the trip down south also coming too soon for injured skipper Jamaal Lascelles.
