MacBook Air M4 Teardown Video Reveals Easy to Access Battery and Ports

It has only been a few months, but the MacBook Pro M4 is already old news, while the latest and greatest, or at least in terms of portability, is the MacBook Air M4. This iFixit teardown video reveals an easy to access battery and ports, but everything else is better left to professionals.
Accessing the battery simply involves removing the four screws on the bottom cover and then carefully prying the shell open. You’re then given immediate access to the battery connector, which can easily be disconnected from the logic board to avoid any risk of accidental damage during the removal process. On the MacBook Air M4, both the MagSafe and USB-C ports are accessible and can easily be replaced. Two things you don’t want to mess with are the display and keyboard, as the latter contains Touch ID.

Taking all factors into consideration, the MacBook Air M4 earns a provisional repairability score of 5 out of 10. While it offers better repairability than an iPad (though that’s a low bar to clear), it still falls short of what we’d consider genuinely repairable hardware,” said Elizabeth Chamberlain, iFixit’s Director of Sustainability.
