Boston Dynamics Atlas 2.0 Humanoid Robot Breakdancing
There’s Spot, and then Boston Dynamics’ Atlas 2.0 humanoid robot, which has now learned to breakdance. This latest iteration of the robot is capable of performing complex movements—like running, jumping, and even tasks requiring fine manipulation—thanks to its swiveling joints and a range of motion that exceeds human capabilities.

A few moves that would be particularly useful for breakdancing include the ability to bend its legs backward, stand up from a prone position, and rotate its head as well as torso 180 degrees effortlessly. It learns through a mix of reinforcement learning and foundation models to adapt to complex environments, like reaching into cluttered containers or navigating obstacles, all the while maintaining high reliability.
