Man Utd make ‘sudden’ £40m move to sign former Man City midfielder | Football

Manchester United are preparing to make a move for Borussia Dortmund midfielder Felix Nmecha, according to reports in Germany.
The 24-year-old, who made his professional debut with Manchester City before he was released in 2021, is currently in his second season at Dortmund after joining from Wolfsburg.
Dortmund, meanwhile, sit 11th in the Bundesliga and are facing the prospect of missing out on a place in next season’s Champions League.
The Bundesliga club may be forced to sell some of their key players if they fail to retain their place in Europe’s elite club competition with Jamie Gittens and Karim Adeyemi among those who could be moved on.
According to Bild, United are now targeting Nmecha with a view to signing the midfielder in the summer transfer window.

The report describes United’s interest as ‘sudden’ and claims Ruben Amorim’s side would be prepared to offer €48 million (£40.1m).
Bild add that despite potentially missing out on Champions League football next season, Dortmund would be reluctant to sell.
Dortmund are also in a strong negotiating position as the midfielder will still have three years remaining on his contract at the end of the season.
Nmecha has not played for Dortmund since January 25 due to a knee ligament injury but the German club are hopeful that the midfielder will return after the international break and will be available for the first leg of their Champions League quarter-final tie against Barcelona on April 9.
Nmecha, who operates as a box-to-box midfielder, has five goals and four assists in 56 appearances for Dortmund.
