Kat Graham and Meagan Tandy chatted about starring in Tyler Perry’s “Duplicity,” which premiered on Amazon Prime Video on March 20th, 2025.

Background on Tyler Perry’s ‘Duplicity’

The synopsis is: High-powered attorney Marley (Kat Graham) faces her most personal case yet when she is tasked with uncovering the truth behind the shooting of her best friend Fela’s (Meagan Tandy) husband (Joshua Adeyeye).

With the help of her boyfriend (Tyler Lepley) – a former cop turned private investigator – Marley’s search for what really happened leads her down a treacherous maze of deception and betrayal. Lee plays Kevin, while Lepley plays Tony.

Experience in Tyler Perry’s ‘Duplicity’

On their experience doing Tyler Perry’s “Duplicity,” they concurred, “Our experience was amazing. It was so good! It was such a dream from the beginning to the end.”

On her character Marley, Kat remarked, “I love that my character wouldn’t stop until she got to the bottom of it. I don’t think she was expecting it. I am proud that she had integrity, and she wouldn’t stop.”

Meagan said, “I love how my character, Fela, has some very interesting layers, and as an actor, it was really exciting to be able to show up for work for all of that, and to play all of those different levels. I loved that she had that within herself.”

Working with Nick Barrotta

On working with Nick Barrotta, Meagan exclaimed, “I loved working with Nick. He is amazing, and he is just so smooth. Nick is just the best.”

Working with Tyler Perry

The actresses concurred, “Working with Tyler Perry was a dream. Tyler is an iconic legend but he is also super grounded, spiritual, fun, hard-working, and just inspirational. He is such a leader, and he does everything himself.”

Lessons learned from this screenplay

On the lessons learned from this screenplay Meagan said, “Just the work, in and of itself… We had to shoot this in a speed that I am not normally used to.”

“So, because we are filming at the speed, it literally taught me that as long as I am prepared, I can show up and do anything. You show up, and you trust yourself and the choices that you make,” Meagan elaborated.

Stage of their lives

On the title of the current chapter of her life, Meagan said, “The Exciting Adventures of Meagan Tandy’s Career Today.”

Kat added, “My title would be ‘Tyler Perry said I could’.”

Closing thoughts on ‘Duplicity’

For fans and viewers, Kat remarked about “Duplicity,” “I want them to feel inspired and so entertained because I know that y’all don’t know what is coming.”

“I also want them to feel empowered because of the subject matter, and I want them to trust their instincts,” Meagan added.

Success

On her definition of the word success, Kat said with a sweet laugh, “Wearing sock boots.”

“Tyler Perry is the epitome of success, and I feel that his biggest successes are what he does for other people, so sock boots aside, the greatest success is when you can help others  build. That is the epitome of success; when you can help others,” Kat clarified.

“Success is figuring out a way to stay present. As long as you are in that present moment, that is success because you are living right then and there,” Meagan concluded.
