PS One Console Mod Crab Playstacean
Modder GingerOfOz’s custom PS One mod trades the gray box for an orange crab vibe, complete with a glossy shell, movable legs, and a disc drive nestled in the back. This required a trimmed-down PS1 motherboard that was rewired and slotted into a 3D-printed crab shell he crafted himself.

The disc lid pops open like a claw, while the controller ports line the front and power plus AV hookups trail out the rear. He fires up Crash Bandicoot, and that iconic PS1 startup sound rings out. As for the build process, he basically disassembled an original PS1, shaved the board down with a Dremel for a tighter fit, and then soldered new connections for the disc drive as well as ports. Yes, the claws double as a functional controller.

PS One Console Mod Crab Playstacean

A few ideas if you decide to make a Playstacean 2: LEDs in the eyes that route from the original port so it’s easier to see if there’s an issue with a disk or the system itself. Another one is for the claws to be removable and interlock together so the feel of the controller is better for the user. Maybe you could tinker around and have retractable cables in each arm so they can snap back into place without dealing with the system eating up batteries if you decide to go the Bluetooth mod route,” said one fan.
