Ruben Amorim is preparing for life without Marcus Rashford next season with Manchester United setting a £60 million asking price for Aston Villa this summer, according to reports.

Rashford joined Villa on loan in the January transfer window and has four assists in nine appearances for Unai Emery’s side so far.

Before the 27-year-old’s departure, Amorim made it clear that he was unhappy with Rashford’s effort levels in training, and the forward did not play a game for United since December 12.

According to the Daily Star, Amorim has not changed his stance on Rashford and is ready to let the England international leave United on a permanent deal in the summer.

The report adds that United are demanding a £60m fee from Villa, although reports last month claimed that a £40m option to buy was included as part of the loan agreement.

Speaking after Rashford’s exit, Amorim claimed that the forward had not adapted to his demands following his arrival from Sporting.

‘What I say is I couldn’t get Marcus to see the way you’re supposed to play football and to train the way I see it,’ said Amorim.

‘Sometimes you have one player who is really good with one coach and the same player with another coach is different.

‘I just wish the best to Rashford and Unai Emery and hope they can connect, because he’s a very good player. Thankfully, Marcus is in Birmingham now with Unai, so you can take these questions to another coach. We’re just focused on our players.

‘Some of the guys don’t adapt to the way I see football, the other guys adapt, and we’re trying to build the team. It’s something you feel, as a coach and a player.

‘It’s quite normal, it happened with a lot of coaches. The important thing is that I’m here, saying it was my decision.’
