Ex-England boss Fabio Capello has revealed who he rates as the ‘best manager in the world’.

That accolade is often bestowed upon Pep Guardiola but Capello believes one manager stands above the Manchester City boss.

Asked which current manager he most admirers, Capello told the Daily Mail: ‘Carlo. Carlo Ancelotti is the best manager in the world.

‘Wherever he has managed, they have won. I like him because he can play different styles with different players.

‘He is really intelligent. It’s not, “This style is my style and that’s it”. He makes wine with different grapes.’

Ancelotti’s managerial career spans three decades, with the Italian enjoying stints at the likes of AC Milan, Chelsea, Paris Saint-Germain, Bayern Munich and of course Real Madrid.

The former Italy midfielder has won league titles in England, France, Italy, Germany and Spain.

At Real Madrid, Ancelotti has lifted 15 trophies, including two La Liga titles and three Champions Leagues.

Sitting joint-top of La Liga and safely through to the quarter-finals of the Champions League, Real Madrid could be set for more monumental success under Ancelotti this season.

While Capello believes Ancelotti is the best manager in world football, he also revealed his admiration for Liverpool boss Arne Slot.

Replacing Anfield legend Jurgen Klopp was no mean feat but Slot has guided Liverpool to the verge of Premier League glory in his first season in England.

‘To do this after Jurgen Klopp, who I liked, is incredible,’ Capello added. ‘It’s a bit like my career.

‘I arrived at AC Milan after Arrigo Sacchi and everyone said the team is finished, that they don’t like to work any more, they had won too many trophies. I think it’s more or less the same.’

Standing in Ancelotti and Real Madrid’s way in the Champions League is quarter-final opponents Arsenal.

Looking ahead to that mouth-watering European tie, Arsenal captain Martin Odegaard told the club’s official website: ‘For the second season in a row we are in the quarter-final of the Champions League, but we want to go much further.

‘We remember that feeling we had when Bayern knocked us out last season and we are all determined to put that right.

‘Of course it will be a huge couple of matches against Real Madrid, and for me personally it will be special to play against my former team.

‘We believe in ourselves and we know what we can do, and our form in the Champions League has been very strong, winning seven of our 10 matches so far.

‘We can’t wait for that first leg here at Emirates Stadium next month. It’s going to be a beautiful night.’
