Thomas Tuchel reveals what frustrated him during forgettable England win over Latvia | Football

England boss Thomas Tuchel admits there were times at which he was frustrated during the 3-0 win over Latvia, but insists that is a normal part of management.
The Three Lions won the World Cup qualifier 3-0 at Wembley thanks to goals from Reece James, Harry Kane and Eberechi Eze on a fairly routine night for the home team.
While the result was never in doubt, England didn’t exactly cut through Latvia on a regular basis and struggled to create as many clear cut chances as they would have liked to.
Much of the game was forgettable as Latvia sat deep and England struggled to break them down, with Tuchel visibly annoyed at times on the sidelines.
It was put to him that he seemed frustrated, which he admitted, but also that there may be more work to do on the team than he expected, but he dismissed that idea.
‘No, not at all,’ he told a press conference. ‘But it is normal in coaching that you sometimes see an opportunity and you feel the players don’t see it.
‘I was twice a bit frustrated because I felt the opportunity for a high ball, in a very high position around Harry, once in central midfield, and I felt like we didn’t take this opportunity to have a high ball and maybe catch them unorganised.

‘But this is normal. For short seconds you are frustrated and then you push the players again. That is normal.
‘We need this to learn from each other. For the first time I coach most of these players so I need to understand how they behave, what they like, how they behave under stress, what they do out of position, in position and out of possession and in possession so this is pretty normal overall and this is what I said to the team.
‘I’m very happy with the effort, the attitude and of course the results. We expect a win, everyone expects a win form us but you have to do it, you have to put in a lot of work.’

The win over Latvia followed a 2-0 victory over Albania in an unspectacular but solid start for life as England boss for Tuchel.
On his first camp as Three Lions boss he said: ‘Very happy, because of the players mainly.
‘The staff was amazing, organisation of the camp was absolutely top. But the players made the difference, like always.
‘They reminded me instantly why I was excited about the job. Top characters, very good group, I think we had some excellent days on the pitch but also off the pitch. Good energy and a very positive atmosphere.
‘From the start everyone wants to give his best, everyone is proud to play for England, everyone wants to be in the starting XI and wants to come on.
‘There’s still room to improve, but overall we have two wins, two clean sheets, we did not allow any big chances in two matches. So there are a lot of positives to take away and still room to improve. It’s a good start.’
England do not return to action until June when they take on Andorra in their next World Cup qualifier, followed by a friendly against Senegal.
