Here’s something you don’t see everyday, or at least stateside, a Cinderella-carriage inspired 2000 Toyota WiLL Vi. This subcompact sedan was part of the WiLL brand, a collaborative project by Toyota and several other Japanese companies like Panasonic and Asahi Breweries, aimed at appealing to younger buyers with quirky, lifestyle-focused products

The WiLL Vi was the first car under this brand and was built on the platform of the first-generation Toyota Vitz (known as the Echo in some markets). Its design is what really sets it apart, as Toyota drew inspiration from Cinderella’s pumpkin carriage, giving it a distinctive, retro-modern look with a steeply sloped rear window (often called a “cliff-cut” design) and a carriage-like roofline.

It’s powered by a small, yet reliable, 1.3L 2NZ-FE inline-four engine producing 87 hp and 90 lb-ft of torque, mated to a four-speed automatic transmission. The WiLL Vi only had a short two-year production run (2000-2001) because, despite its funky styling and youthful marketing (which extended to things like WiLL-branded beer and laptops), it didn’t quite catch on as hoped.
