Manchester United have been handed a huge injury boost with five players back in training ahead of their Premier League clash with Nottingham Forest next week.

Shaw’s campaign has been derailed by injury, briefly returning to action to feature three times under Ruben Amorim before being sidelined again in December.

Kobbie Mainoo and Ayden Heaven were also not pictured.

Mainoo has not played since early February due to a muscle issue but it had been hoped he would be available for selection again following the international break.

Heaven meanwhile was stretchered off against Leicester, later leaving the King Power Stadium wearing a protective boot.

Ayden Heaven return date revealed?

It looked like it was quite minor, albeit one where he was in a quite a lot of pain.

Our thoughts were his ankle wobbled as he came down onto it. It was likely one of two things – it was ligament damage from the movement in his ankle or the peroneal muscle group that stopped his ankle from rolling that gave him that tweak and a little strain in one of those muscles.

It could have been a slight hairline fracture but I think that would have been the worst case scenario. With the other two, you are probably talking about a couple of weeks out. 2-4 weeks is probably on the money.

Fears over a serious injury have subsided however with hope the former Arsenal youngster will be available again in the coming weeks.

Amad Diallo was not in training with the Ivorian still recovering from an ankle injury.

While it was thought the 22-year-old would miss the rest of the season, a social media post this week suggested he could be back in action sooner than expected.

United will however be without Lisandro Martinez for the foreseeable future with Jonny Evans also still absent.

Amorim’s side face a tough trip to Forest on 1 April before hosting Manchester City in the second derby of the season five days later at Old Trafford.

United then take on Lyon across two legs in the Europa League quarter-finals with a trip to Newcastle United waiting between those two fixtures.
