Man City in talks to sign £50m Arsenal and Liverpool target | Football

Manchester City have joined rivals Arsenal and Liverpool in the race to sign highly-rated youngster Hugo Larsson and have begun talks over a big money transfer.
Larsson, 20, has become the subject of much transfer speculation thanks to his impressive form for Eintracht Frankfurt.
Despite his tender years, he’s played nearly every game for the German club this season, helping them to fourth in the Bundesliga and the quarter-finals of the Europa League where they’ll face Tottenham.
The midfielder has also been capped eight times by Sweden and helped boyhood club Malmo win the Allsvenskan title in 2023.
Well-regarded for his passing, tenacity and physical prowess, Larsson’s many admirers include Arsenal, Liverpool and Spurs, while Manchester United have also shown ‘strong interest’ in the Swede.

Other top clubs around Europe, including some of Frankfurt’s Bundesliga rivals are also keeping tabs on the 6’2″ youngster.
And Sky Sports Germany now report that Man City have entered the fray and may even be leading the race for Larsson’s signature.

It is said Frankfurt are aware of the Citizens’ interest and initial talks with the reigning Premier League champions have already been held.
Despite buying Nico Gonzalez for £50million in January, Pep Guardiola is keen on more midfield reinforcements with Kevin De Bruyne and Ilkay Gundogan out of contract in the summer.
However, Larsson will not come cheap, with Frankfurt sporting director Markus Krösche demanding at least €60m (£50.1m) for the talented youngster.

The Eagles are also under no pressure to sell having recently extended the 20-year-old’s contract until 2029.
Upon signing his new deal, Larsson said in October: ‘‘Today is a great and happy day for myself and my family. I feel incredibly comfortable at the club and in the city and have felt a great deal of trust from day one.
‘My first year in Frankfurt was amazing and I’m looking forward to many more years with the eagle on my chest.’
Guardiola is plotting a mini-overhaul of his squad after a difficult season that has left Man City fifth in the Premier League and at risk of not qualifying for the Champions League.
The FA Cup is the only trophy left that they can win this campaign and to do so they must first overcome a tricky quarter-final clash at Bournemouth on Sunday.
