Fallout 3 Intro Remake Unreal Engine 5
RG Surota wanted to see how the Fallout 3 intro would look like if remade in Unreal Engine 5, so that is exactly what he set out to do. Most of the original 3D models that you see were sourced from the Unreal Engine Marketplace and The Capital Wasteland mod project for Fallout 4, with a small portion created by Surota.

The wasteland now looks far more detailed, as Unreal Engine 5’s Nanite system allows for intricate geometry such as cracked asphalt, weathered metal, and debris with visible wear, all without performance hits. Lumen, the engine’s real-time lighting, adds dynamic shadows and soft, natural light that enhance the eerie mood. The TV screen’s grainy broadcast retains its retro charm but looks sharper and more cinematic. We can’t skip past the Brotherhood knight’s armor either, as it gleams with metallic realism, a stark contrast to the original’s blockier model.

I’m telling you, if there was anything FO4 [Fallout 4] did that I will praise is the new Power Armor look (NOT THE STUPID CORE. That could’ve been balanced better). The armor actually feels like armor and not a weirdly over engineered platemail. It feels bulky, tough and durable. Helping to make it feel more believable as to why the Chinese forces feared it, but also making those that wear it more intimidating,” said one fan.
