Gaming-Inspired Hyundai INSTEROID Concept Debuts, Includes Drift Mode

Stylish and futuristic, the Hyundai INSTEROID is essentially a reimagined version of the company’s hot-selling INSTER electric vehicle (EV), transformed into a “Dream Car” concept. Think of it as a car that could’ve rolled out of a video game—vibrant, playful, and built to turn heads.

While the INSTEROID is a concept car and specific powertrain specs for it weren’t fully detailed in the release, it’s based on the production INSTER EV. The standard INSTER comes with two battery options: a 42 kWh or a 49 kWh pack, delivering 97 hp or 115 hp respectively, both with 147 Nm of torque

Hyundai’s leaning hard into the gaming world with this one. They’ve developed a game featuring the INSTEROID that’ll go public this month (no app download needed). Plus, there’s an INSTEROID Kart coming later to “Kartrider Rush+,” a popular racing game. It’s a smart move to connect with younger, tech-savvy audiences.

The INSTEROID’s Drift Mode also ties into its multisensory experience. Hyundai emphasizes a “unique sound signature” that enhances the driving vibe, likely amplified in this mode to mimic the roar of a combustion engine or a futuristic game. Paired with the Beat House audio system, it’s designed to make drifting feel immersive, not just mechanically functional.
