Nintendo Switch 2 Set to Launch on June 5, Priced at $449.99 in US with Reimagined Joy-Con 2 Controllers

We’ll probably never see the Virtual Boy Pro, but the Nintendo Switch 2 is most certainly set to launch on June 5, priced at $449.99 in the US, complete with reimagined Joy-Con 2 controllers that magnetically snap onto the system and can double as mouse controllers in compatible games.

There’s also a new “C” button on the Joy-Cons that activates a “GameChat” feature, letting you communicate with friends and share your screen while playing. The console itself sports a larger 7.9-inch display, and Nintendo emphasized its focus on connecting players in new ways, building on eight years of Switch evolution

Even more important, the console will be backwards compatible with existing Switch games, and it introduces a virtual game card system for lending as well as borrowing digital titles within a Nintendo Account family group via local wireless.

Other hardware highlights include 256GB of internal storage, a major jump from the original’s 32GB, a built-in microphone and a top USB-C port for charging or attachments, alongside the bottom one, adding flexibility. The dock itself has been redesigned with rounded edges, a cooling system, and HDMI 2.1 support for 4K HDR, indicating the console’s hardware is built to handle higher resolutions and frame rates when connected to a TV.
