Donkey Kong Bananza is Nintendo Switch 2 Exclusive, First Fully 3D Adventure Since DK64

Donkey Kong Bananza is set to launch exclusively on the Nintendo Switch 2 on July 17, and it’s the first fully 3D adventure since Donkey Kong 64 (1999). This title marks a return to the 3D platformer-style after over two decades, blending open-zone exploration with classic platforming elements.
A core mechanic involves Donkey Kong smashing through the world. You can “crash, bash, and climb” through nearly everything in DK’s path, tearing off chunks of terrain to swing, throw, or use to uncover new areas. The more you demolish with DK’s powerful punches, the more secrets and paths you unlock.
DK’s toolkit includes punching, climbing walls, rolling into enemies, ground pounding, and even picking up objects or foes to hurl them. The game also features mine cart rides and 2D side-scrolling sections, nodding to the Donkey Kong Country series.
The trailer also hints at a purple rock-crystal companion riding on DK’s shoulder, and many enemies appear to be crystalline in nature, suggesting a thematic connection. Classic barrels are back, and there are unique bosses to battle.
