Hori’s Piranha Plant Camera for the Nintendo Switch 2 Might be a Must Have Accessory

Hori’s Piranha Plant camera for the Nintendo Switch 2 just might be one of the first must have accessories for the handheld. Why? It’s designed to work with the Switch 2’s new GameChat feature, which allows video chatting and in-game camera use.
Unlike Nintendo’s official Switch 2 camera, which costs €60, Hori’s Piranha Plant version is priced at €40 (about $44 USD), making it a more affordable (and cooler-looking) option. As you can already see, it’s styled after the iconic Piranha Plant from the Super Mario series, complete with a pot that doubles as a stand and USB extension. The camera itself is housed in the plant’s head, which can detach from the pot and connect directly to the Switch 2 via USB-C
While Hori hasn’t listed it on their US site yet, it’s already popped up at Media Markt in Germany with a release date of June 5, 2025, matching the Switch 2’s launch. There is some speculation that the lower price might mean a trade-off in resolution compared to Nintendo’s version, but that has not yet been confirmed.
