AFC Bournemouth head coach Andoni Iraola has provided an injury update on Justin Kluivert ahead of Saturday’s trip to West Ham.

Kluivert has been in stunning form for the Cherries this season, conjuring up 12 goals and six assists across 28 Premier League games.

But the Dutchman was left out of the Bournemouth squad who lost 2-1 at home to Ipswich Town on Wednesday night due to fatigue.

Kluivert’s absence has worried those who own him in Fantasy Premier League (FPL), with fans keen to know if he’ll return against West Ham.

Bournemouth boss Iraola has now provided an update on the 25-year-old, who is the son of ex-Barcelona and Newcastle United star Patrick Kluivert.

Iraola told a pre-match press conference on Friday that it will be ‘difficult’ for Kluivert to feature for Bournemouth against West Ham on Saturday.

Kluivert is not necessarily ruled out, though, with Iraola confirming that the attacking midfielder will face a late fitness test today before tomorrow’s clash at the London Stadium and that he could be named on the bench.

‘Justin is going to be difficult, I wouldn’t say it’s a ‘definitely not’ like Ryan [Christie],’ Iraola said.

‘We’ll see today if he can train with us and help us from the bench at least but he feels tight so it’s difficult.’

The Cherries star was left tired and feeling some tightness after the south coast club’s 2-1 FA Cup quarter-final defeat to Manchester City last week.

Speaking after the loss to Ipswich, Iraola added: ‘He (Kluivert) has an overload.

‘I think he feels tightness and when you feel tightness you are on the verge of a risk.

‘From here, we don’t have a lot of time, it’s two days and something but I don’t know if he can help us against West Ham.’

Kluivert joined Bournemouth from Italian side Roma in the summer of 2023 and has played a total of 69 games, registering 22 goals and 10 assists.
