Disney Releases First TRON Ares Trailer, Teases Massive Recognizer Ship Looming Over San Francisco

Disney First TRON Ares Trailer
Disney has just released the first TRON Ares trailer, and it teases a massive Recognizer ship looming over San Francisco. It’s slated for release on October 10, 2025 in the US, likely with IMAX and Dolby options to maximize those visuals and sound.

Ares (Jared Leto), a smart computer program, breaks out of its digital world, called the Grid, and comes into our real world on a risky mission. This is the first time humans have faced off with an AI creature like this. It’s the opposite of the usual Tron story—here, the digital stuff invades real life instead of people going into a computer world. You can expect it to dive into big questions about whether AI is good or bad, plus some battles over technology.

It’s a star-studded cast lineup—Jared Leto as Ares, Greta Lee as a brilliant programmer named Eve Kim, Evan Peters as the villainous Julian Dillinger (a nod to the original Tron’s bad guys), Jeff Bridges returning as Kevin Flynn, plus Jodie Turner-Smith, Gillian Anderson, Cameron Monaghan, Hasan Minhaj, Arturo Castro, and Sarah Desjardins. Bridges’ comeback is a big deal, especially since Flynn sacrificed himself in Legacy—how he’s back is a juicy mystery.

Joachim Rønning (Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales) is at the helm, promising a mix of emotional depth and blockbuster flair. He’s called it his “dream” project, aiming to make it more heartfelt than past Tron entries.
