GM Reveals Corvette-Based Electric Supercar Concept That Could Make Over 1,000HP

GM revealed a new Corvette-based supercar at the opening of their Advanced Design Studio in Leamington Spa, UK. It’s not a car you can buy yet—just a concept—but people are excited about its cool, future-looking design and smart features.
Unlike older Corvettes, this one runs totally on electricity, ready to take on fast electric cars like the Tesla Roadster and Porsche Taycan. Word is it might have over 1,000 horsepower, using two or three motors to go from 0-60 mph in less than 2 seconds—super quick!

Designed by GM’s team, led by Julian Thomson, it’s low to the ground with sharper edges than today’s C8 Corvette. It has no grille up front, skinny LED headlights, and a body shaped to push air down and move efficiently. Instead of a regular steering wheel, it’s got a yoke, giving it a sci-fi feel.
The UK team worked to make it awesome for racing tracks but still comfy on regular roads. It’s got fancy aerodynamic bits like moving spoilers and channels, plus a light carbon-fiber frame to balance out the heavy battery.
It’s loaded with neat stuff—like a heads-up display that mixes real views with extra info, a simple driver’s area with hologram controls, and an upgraded Super Cruise system for semi-autonomous driving. There’s also talk of new battery tech that could let it travel over 400 miles on one charge.
It keeps the Corvette’s tough look and mid-engine setup, but going electric and aiming for supercar speed takes it somewhere fresh. It’s not about the loud V8 noise anymore—it’s all about quiet, instant power, changing what a Corvette can be.
As part of the Corvette creative study, we asked multiple studios to develop hypercar concepts, which we’ll see more of later this year. It was important that they all pay homage to Corvette’s historic DNA, but each studio brought their own unique creative interpretation to the project. That is exactly what our advanced design studio network is intended to do – push the envelope, challenge convention and imagine what could be,” said Michael Simcoe, senior VP of global design at GM.
