Top Gear Tests the 2,011HP Lotus Evija X, One of the World’s Most Powerful Electric Hypercars

Top Gear wanted to test the Lotus Evija X, along with its standard variant, to see why people just weren’t interested in buying one of the world’s most powerful electric hypercars. First, it’s limited to 130-units worldwide, each priced between $2.1-$2.4 million, so that could be one major contributing factor.
As we mentioned previously, the Evija is a fully electric hypercar, powered by four electric motors—one for each wheel—delivering all-wheel drive. The battery pack, developed with Williams Advanced Engineering, was initially a 70 kWh unit but upgraded to 93 kWh later on for better range and performance.

Lotus claims a combined output of around 1,972 horsepower (2,000 PS) and 1,254 lb-ft (1,700 Nm) of torque, while the Evija X model can make up to 2,011 hp. Its range is estimated at 215-250 miles (WLTP), though hard driving will cut that significantly. The Evija also supports fast charging—80% in 12 minutes with a 350 kW charger, potentially 9 minutes with future 800 kW tech.
The Evija weighs in at around 3,703 lbs, thanks to a carbon-fiber monocoque. Its torque-vectoring system, especially in Track mode, dynamically shifts power to individual wheels, sharpening cornering. On public roads, it can seamlessly balance supercar thrills with surprising refinement, partially due to the five driving modes: Range, City, Tour, Sport, and Track.
As for the track, the Evija’s Nürburgring and Laguna Seca times put it ahead of most production EVs, though the Rimac Nevera’s 7:05 at the ‘Ring (on a wet track) suggests a close fight in standard form. The Evija’s lighter weight gives it an edge in corners over the Nevera or Battista, but its top speed may fall slightly behind the Nevera’s 258 mph.
